áThis is a vital position for the school system and the School Committee seeks to make the process inclusive, comprehensive, andáexpedient.á Part of the process involves forming a Superintendent SearcháCommittee.á The Committee will be comprised ofánine people includingáschool committee members, faculty/staff, administrators, parents/guardians, andácommunityámembers.á

áParents/guardians,áfaculty/staff,áand community membersáinterested ináserving on the Search Committee are asked to express their interest in the form of a letter of intent addressed to Mr. Scott Lazo, Chair, Southbridge School Committee.á Letters of intent can be dropped off at the Superintendent's Office located at 25 Cole Avenue or can be electronically submitted to Cady Joress at c.joress@southbridge.k12.ma.us

"A Tribute to Our Country"
Charlton Street School held their annual Flag Day celebration, titled "A Tribute to Our Country", on Friday, June 12, 2015. Students performed for their parents and friends, guests, and local veterans.á
CSS PTA Coke Cap and Box Tops Winners
Congratulations to Avarie Beauchamp for her champion effort to collect the most Coke caps. She is this year's top collector. Congratulations to Sierra DeCarolis for being May/June's top Box Top collector!

"CSS Field Day and Cookout

Charlton St. School held its Field Day and annual cookout on Wednesday, June 17. Students participated in relay races, including Chicken Chopsticks, 40 Yard Dash, and Sack Races. They played bean bag horse shoes, completed parachute activities, and had great fun with the Wet Sponge Toss. All students were treated to a cookout which included hotdogs, chips, juice, and ice cream sandwiches. A special thanks to the Knights of Columbus for providing and cooking hot dogs for the students and to Economy Canvas and Awnings for providing canopies for shade.

CSS Annual Spelling Bee
Charlton Street School held a Spelling Bee on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 which was sponsored by Schott North America, Inc. áA total of 24 children, two classroom winners from each third, fourth, and fifth grade homeroom, competed. All CSS third, fourth, and fifth graders attended the Spelling Bee to show support for their classmates. Parents and other family members of the participants were also in the audience.
Third grade winners were: 1st-Olivia Carrier, 2nd-Jarrett Cortez, and 3rd-Adriana Aguilar and finalists were Christian Ortiz-Torres, Jazmine Santos, Dominick Carr, Gabriella Cabrera, and Adian Campbell.
Fourth grade winners: 1st-Abrahm Routhier, 2nd-Jonmanuel Ramos, and 3rd-Emma Pelloni and finalists were Ziyaira Chevalier, Kyle St. Laurent, Gabriel Augustin, Abraham Colon, and Trinity Morse.
Fifth grade winners: 1st-Sophia Hatzidis, 2nd-Jacob Felix, and 3rd- Luzyvette Sagastibelza-Lopez. and finalists were Justin Ditrocchio, Jordan Rivera, Scarlet Taveras, Kyle Mason, and Shelby Carrier.
Career Day 2015
Charlton St. School held its annual Career Day on Friday, June 5, 2015. Over 20 speakers from a variety of professions visited classrooms and spoke about their various careers.á Students in grades 1-5 enjoyed the experience. Many thanks to all those that participated!

Miss Alaineus Vocabulary Parade
Students at CSS participated in the Miss Alaineus Vocabulary Parade on Wednesday, June 3. Students in Grades 3-5 designed and created posters of a new vocabulary word/words. They then paraded for their parents and grade one and two students who cheered them on with their vocabulary signs.

Showcase Your Hobby Night
Students at CSS presented their hobbies to students, parents, family members, guardians, and guests on Wednesday, April 8.á Various hobbies were explained and demonstrated including archery, rock climbing, comic book collections, Lego creations, coin collecting and many many more. Please enjoy a slideshow of the evening's presentations!

Reach Out and Read Day at CSS
On Thursday, May 28, 2015, the PTA was thrilled to celebrate Reach Out and Read Day.á Readers included local business owners, civil servants, former teachers, parents and other interested community members.á The PTA provided a book for each reader which was then donated to the class with the intent that students realize that reading is not only important, but fun!á Thank you to all of the wonderful readers who took time out of their busy day!
